Whelping Box

After many requests for the good old-fashioned wood whelping box we have engaged a GREAT carpenter to custom-make boxes for us. The boxes are made with premium plywood, built with solid construction and made to last.

Whelping boxes are offered either painted or unpainted. The unpainted box is sanded and ready to paint. If you choose the painted option, the box is hand painted, using 3 coats of paint. The first coat is an oil-based sealer, then 2 coats of latex paint to make it very “scrub-able” and easy to clean.

We designed our whelping box from the time honored whelping box standard.

The whelping box is easy to assemble, un-assemble and store. Removable pins in the hinged corners make each side easy to put together and take apart, something you can do by yourself

Custom orders or changes are welcome; we will provide you with a specific quote for your specific needs. We build each box one at a time, so please allow extra time for changes.

We suggest that you allow 4-6 weeks from order time to delivery. Rush orders will be considered, but an additional fee will be charged.

DeeLee Mucus Trap:
Increase your suction capabilities!. Perfect for deeper suctioning of respiratory mucus, or removing mucus from the stomach of newborns. One tube goes in your mouth, the second tube is threaded down the newborns mouth to the stomach. Begin gently sucking on the tube in your mouth while slowly pulling the tube up the newborns esophagus and out the mouth. Mucus and fluid is trapped in the canister. Fleece Whelping Box Pads
(color may vary from photo)

Thick absorbent fleece makes the perfect whelping box liner or crate pad. Heavy weight backing makes it difficult for "Mom" to dig under bedding. Fleece also provides good traction for pups, helping to promote good muscle development in legs.

Fleece is very dense so if you are lining a whelping box you will need 2 separate pieces in order for it to fit in your washing machine unless your box is 2 X 2 or smaller. If you have a very large washing machine you might be able to get a 3 X 3 in, but it will be a tight fit.

Its nice to have 3-4 pieces, that way 1 or 2 can be in the wash and Mom still has the box covered.
